The wear surface of a block refers to the depth of the wood available be sanded before the it needs to be lifted and replaced. Typically, the sanding process for evenly laid blocks will remove between 0.5 and 1 millimetre from the top.
We assess a sample of each batch to advise on their condition, including wear surface, however this will vary between blocks since they are reclaimed, and a natural product.
